Stay Active! It Does a Body Good!
Here at GetSuperHealthy we’ve always believed that optimal health is a multifaceted approach. It’s not just ONE thing – it’s several! Super good health is not only eating healthy although that’s one of the most important factors! It’s taking supplements, drinking lots of water, removing toxic chemicals from your home, and it’s keeping a positive outlook on life. AND, it’s also engaging in daily exercise – staying active physically! We call it Fitness and it plays a critical role in overall good health.
Physical Activity is an Essential Component of a Healthy Lifestyle at All Ages
Regular physical activity can produce long-term health benefits. According to the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition it can help
- Prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and stroke
- Control weight
- Make your muscles stronger
- Reduce fat
- Promote strong bone, muscle, and joint development
- Condition heart and lungs
- Build overall strength and endurance
- Improve sleep
- Decrease potential of becoming depressed
- Increase your energy and self-esteem
- Relieve stress
- Increase your chances of living longer
Now those are ALL compelling reasons to make that extra effort, right? By incorporating physical activity into your daily life—30 minutes for adults and 60 minutes for children—as well as healthy eating, you will experience positive health benefits and be on the path for a better future.
Are you moaning and groaning? Stop! It’s not as hard as you may think! Many people see physical activity as structured exercise – like scheduling a time to go to the gym, walking on the treadmill, riding the bicycle or lifting weights, but staying active can be even easier. If you have a demanding work schedule, you’re worried about finding “time”, but you don’t find time, you manage your time – and that means scheduling exercise into your week. Here’s the GOOD news! There really are are ways to increase your level of activity as you go about daily life, but it requires careful planning!
Plan Ways to Add In or Mix Up Daily Activities
When you park the car to go shopping, choose the farthest parking space and hoof it to the store! Take the stairs at work or go for a 10 minute walk in your lunch hour, or maybe you even could ride your bike to work. When you play golf, walk the course. Instead of meeting a friend to eat lunch, meet up and go for a walk, then drink a healthy smoothie afterwards!Join your kids at the park and play ball with them, or walk your dog morning or evening, or both! Your four-legged friend needs exercise too and he’ll love you for it!
Put your thinking cap on, get creative and make up new ways to get active and burn more calories.
